At this location we support the “Centro Tiberiade”, an orphanage which houses about fifty orphan girls, a project that Africaon has been a part of since 2007. The girls are accommodated in the orphanage, unless they are adopted or given in custody, until they finish their education or training and are therefore able to find a job or start their own family.
In 2013, in addition to ensuring food support to the Centre we have built within the same a building where there vocational training courses are held. Currently the first course is for artisan/hairdresser.
This initiative stems from the need to provide, after or in conjunction to the training school, an opportunity for growth for the girls that are taken in, providing knowledge of arts and crafts that can aid their integration into the workplace and consequently the future inclusion in the community allowing them to create their own family and start a new completely autonomous life. The training courses, taught by volunteers, will be open to “non-residents” who will pay a fee for their attendance that will contribute to the maintenance of the school’s activities.
